Advanced Composite Manufacturing Laboratory

Our laboratory conducts research in the areas of advanced manufacturing of high-performance composite structures. The research works combine multi-disciplinary expertise in manufacturing, computational mechanics, material science, design optimization, etc. â€‹Our current research directions include:

  • Numerical modeling methods for manufacturing processes, such as preforming, compaction and curing of fiber-reinforced polymer composites

  • Integrated computational material engineering (ICME) for process-performance and multiscale modeling of fiber-reinforced polymer composites

  • Design and fabrication of carbon fabric composite structural batteries

  • Shear-thickening gel and its application to carbon fiber-reinforced polymer composites

  • Hygrothermal ageing of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer composite structures.​
